About

My name is Melissa Brown, I am a Photographer based in Nottingham, UK.

I’ve always been passionate about photography and I relish the diversity than can be practiced within it, i’ve gone from photographing architecture, landscapes and local wildlife to recently creating more intimate bodies of work that express personal afflictions, exploring themes of identity and trauma.

I am an alumni of Nottingham Trent University, I graduated in 2025 with a First Class Bachelor of Arts in Photography. My university projects, PARASOMNIA and NERVE RINGS, explore my experiences with sleep disorders, these projects embody ideas of dreamscapes, surrealism, fantasy worlds and self-portraiture as performance.

I am continuing to make work post-university.
